All pupils in school are assessed on a regular basis. Assessment takes place informally by teachers and teaching assistants during every lesson so that questions and work can be tailored to meet the individual needs of pupils.

Pupils are assessed in reading accuracy and comprehension, spelling, maths and emotional literacy twice a year using standardised tests; pupils' progress is monitored over time. Work in maths, english and science is also moderated internally and externally every term and these National Curriculum levels are entered into a school data base. Emotional literacy scores are used to triangulate academic data across the whole curriculum.

B Squared is the assessment tool used to track each pupil's progress regularly throughout each term.

Individual pupils have targets in subjects that allow them to know where they are, where they are aiming for and what they have to do to get there. This is managed in a child friendly way.
